Meet Indie! She crushed her weight loss goals with our ‘Green Doggess’ Recipe.

Meet one of the first members of our Pup Plate’s Pack: Indie!

I met Indie during the first Pup Plates delivery and the picture I took of her is just adorable. She is a natural in front of the camera and immediately came to share her toys! Indie is an awesome client— she loves all of our food! As Britney, her pup-arent, says, “she is a greedy goose! She loves everything you bring!”. Both dog and her kind human have been patient with us as we stumbled through packaging changes, and meeting deadlines (gulp) when we were still trying to work other jobs (and build a website, create recipes, do nutrient analysis, run another home based business, volunteer, create a logo, laundry,get our eyebrow game on point, …..….you get the gist; the struggle with time management is real).

Indie is a Jack Russel Schnauzer mix and was 21.6lbs to start. Britney said we wanted to get her weight down to an ideal 18lbs.

I met Indie’s mom, Britney, while working at The Westy on the weekends. Britney saw me slamming a sugar free redbull one Sunday (I was running two home based businesses all week and working doubles on the weekend starting at 8:00am—mama needed a boost!) and quickly returned with a bag full of Arbonne energy mixers, immunity boosters and natural mascara!! Which, if you have never tried Arbonne’s product line, you totally should! They are a company that offers healthy variations of everything from energy drinks to natural make-up and utilize consultants, like Britney, to grow their brand - something I completely stand behind and hope to do similar with this company. We got to talking about nutrition and I brought up the dog food my partner and I made and said I would bring some samples in for her. ‘Do you have a diet recipe; she needs to loose a couple lbs.’That night I raced home, “Babe! Can we create a diet recipe? I said we could. I need it in two days.” (I love you, Charles..my partner in life, business and whatever else I find myself tits deep in…) We had worked with a couple low cal recipes, but the stabilizing of cottage cheese (in many low-cal recipes) gave us pause. Of course, Charles Chastain the West Seattle Dog Chef, came through.

We created our Green Doggess recipe for her and she has been on a meal plan of about 70% that and 30% other recipes, for variation.

Britney was impressed immediately with the recipe—saying “I eat all of these things! We could totally eat this dog food!” , and playfully sticking the container under her friend’s nose. Indie loved the food, too. At the time (only our 3rd official client), we were only offering what is now our premium “fountain of youth” plan: that has all the additional cancer fighting/inflammation reducing ingredients like turkey tail mushroom powder, Alaskan krill oil, bone broth, Glucosamine and hemp extract, among others. Indie was still a young dog and Britney didn’t think all that was necessary yet—could we make something more basic, so it wouldn’t be as expensive?

This is where both the Basic Meal Plan and our Green Doggess recipe were born!

Though the meal plans and the Green Doggess recipe have went through some changes, a huge thanks to Britney and Indie for believing in us and pushing us when we needed it. While I do believe our Premium ‘Fountain of Youth’ meal plan is the absolute best meal plan your animal can get; I also totally understand managing a budget and that feeding your dog whole, real food is light years of a leap forward on it’s own. I feel like more people can start this path of nutrition with our basic plan. And the ‘Green Doggess’ is more than just a nutritious, delicious and brightly colored (from Spirulina, of course, not dyes!) dog food—it’s an ode to Indie and Britney, and all you wonderful 2 and 4 legged ladies in our pack—you are all Goddesses.

Today, Indie went in for a quick check-up, is doing wonderfully, and is a spot-on 18.1 lbs!!

Good job, Indie!! I think tomorrow’s delivery may have some bonus treats included ;-) !
